The Circa dome has a history you can feel the moment you step inside. The design dates back to 1967. That year, architect Richard Buckminster Fuller introduced his geodesic dome structure at the Montreal World Expo. Schiphol was so impressed that it commissioned a Dutch version. In 1971, the Aviodome opened its doors: one of the first geodesic domes in Europe and, at the time, the largest in the world. In 2003, the dome was dismantled and stored in shipping containers. In 2023, it reopened, this time as Circa Amsterdam. Not demolished, but transformed. And still just as impressive.
