Right to play
During this unique event, held in September, funds were raised for children growing up in the most challenging circumstances. We spoke with Kristy van Lammeren from Right To Play and Tjeerd de Kemp from Circa about this special event, where sustainability turned out to be a key shared value. Kristy said:
“Circa immediately sparked our imagination. From the very first step into the surprising entrance to the dramatic black box space, we could visualize the entire event.”

A Gala to Remember
Around each edition of the Olympic Games, Right To Play organizes a gala for ambassadors, athletes, partners, and donors. The goal of these galas is to raise money for children who desperately need it.
“But we also make sure every gala is a truly unforgettable experience,” says Kristy.
The choice of venue is a crucial part of the process. Right To Play works within certain budgets but also aims to create a spectacular event. Achieving that balance depends in part on the flexibility of the venue.
Kristy explains: “Circa really worked with us to make everything feasible within our budget. The collaboration was so pleasant. They thought along with us in practical ways, but also helped us keep everyone engaged and make the event even better.”
Playground
And did it work? Absolutely. On September 23, 2024, the Right To Play gala took place under the theme: “Welcome to our playground – for a better tomorrow.” This playground concept was woven throughout the entire event.
“You arrived by walking across a barefoot path and through a maze. Then you entered an exciting African-inspired playground, where you were welcomed with food and drinks,” Kristy explains.
At one point, all 350 guests played a giant game of Rock-Paper-Scissors together. When the Amsterdam Voice Choir began singing a beautiful song, it officially marked the start of the evening.
As the doors opened, guests were welcomed by Lieke van Lexmond, Toine van Peperstraten, and Tessa Veldhuis.
The entire evening was packed with special moments and spectacular performances, including a set by Alain Clark. A coach from one of Right To Play’s programs in Pakistan gave a moving speech, and there was a unique audio experience featuring the story of a coach from Burundi.
Inspiring individuals with powerful stories added meaning and depth to the evening.

Sustainable flowers
Sustainability is a core theme at Circa, and this event was no exception.
“We always challenge our clients to think about how sustainability can be reflected in their event. How can we make your event as eco-friendly as possible?” explains Tjeerd.
Kristy adds: “Instead of decorating the venue with fresh flowers, we chose to use Lego flowers. The boxed Lego sets were placed on the tables, and every time someone made a donation, they could unwrap a box and build a flower.”
A Seamless Collaboration
“Our collaboration on this gala just clicked,” says Kristy.
“Circa is stunning as it is – all you have to do is enhance what’s already there. The venue is truly impressive. The Circa team supported us wonderfully and was always easy to reach. No complicated procedures, just pick up the phone and speak to your dedicated contact person.”
